Grab Philippines today unveiled GrabTaxi Electric, the nation’s first fully electric, on-demand taxi fleet officially recognized by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).
Grab Electric Taxi Fleet
This pioneering all-EV fleet, a collaboration with local operator EV Taxi Corp, will initially serve key Metro Manila areas including Makati, Taguig, Pasig, Mandaluyong, Parañaque, and Pasay. The launch signifies a major regulatory and operational breakthrough in the Philippines, where conventional combustion engine vehicles currently dominate the transportation sector.

The initiative follows a successful June 2024 pilot study with BYD Philippines, which demonstrated the operational and financial viability of electric vehicles for both fleet operators and driver-partners, affirming electrification as a cost-effective and scalable solution for urban mobility.
Ronald Roda, the company’s Country Head, emphasized the transformative impact: “This is not just about offering another ride option… It’s about fundamentally changing the DNA of urban transport in the Philippines—one that aligns with our sustainability commitments, empowers Filipino commuters, and creates meaningful green livelihoods.”
GrabTaxi Electric is part of the company’s eco-mobility strategy, aiming to expand electric vehicle (EV) adoption in regional cities like Davao and Cagayan De Oro. The initiative, currently in beta, allows passengers to book electric taxis via the company app’s Transport tab. The partnership demonstrates the potential of multinational platforms and local innovators in promoting clean mobility and future-proofing transportation in the Philippines.
